An accident can happen anytime to anyone. Even if one is exercising proper caution and adherence to the law, one may still find oneself the victim of an accident due to the negligence of another person. From the reality television star to your average Joe, Georgia residents know that a motor vehicle collision can happen very quickly. Unfortunately, an insurance dispute where you are wrongfully denied can lead to a delayed payment for your vehicle’s damages and any medical bills.
The 8-year-old reality television star Alana Thompson, also known as “Honey Boo Boo,” and some members of her family were in an accident in Milledgeville, recently. A pick-up truck hit the family’s suburban when it attempted to turn left at a traffic light. The driver of the pick-up truck was allegedly speeding and did not have his lights on. The family suffered some minor injuries including bruising, a back contusion and sprained limbs.
When one is hurt in an accident by the fault of another driver, liability and/or collision insurance should cover the physical damages and medical bills. An underinsured or uninsured motorist can put unnecessary burden on others after an accident. It’s important to be familiar with common insurance practices, so that one knows what action to take in the event of a wrongfully denied claim.
A simple injury like the headache that Honey Boo Boo received can have repercussions days or weeks down the road. A car crash can wreak havoc on your body, with long-term consequences. A denied claim on the part of an insurance company can add undue stress and delay your reimbursement. All accidents are difficult, especially ones involving motor vehicles, so it is important to consider all legal ways that one can receive compensation for any injuries that one incurs.
