Growing up, Xavier dreamed of following in his father’s footsteps to become an attorney working for everyday people who are facing some of life’s most challenging circumstances. Xavier is now living out his dream as an advocate on behalf of plaintiffs. In 2018, he joined the law firm then known as Watkins, Lourie, Roll & Chance, P.C. At the beginning of 2023, Xavier became a partner in the newly formed Chance, Forlines, Carter & King P.C.

Xavier began practicing law in 2009 with King & Spalding, LLP, where his practice focused on professional liability defense and commercial litigation. He served on the firm’s Hiring Committee, its Associate’s Committee, and was a co-leader of the firm’s African American Affinity Group.

In 2014, Xavier joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama as a federal prosecutor. As an AUSA, Xavier honed his trial skills prosecuting white collar crime, civil rights abuses, and violent crime. Xavier organized and led complex investigations involving fraud, theft, and embezzlement from individuals, companies, and government entities. He also investigated and prosecuted cases involving law enforcement officer misconduct and civil rights violations by members of law enforcement agencies. Xavier served as both the Civil Rights Coordinator and the Human Trafficking Coordinator for the USAO for the Northern District of Alabama. His time at the United States Attorney’s Office allowed him to further develop his love for advocating on behalf victims. 

   Xavier graduated magna cum laude from Howard University, in Washington, D.C. After college, he spent two years practicing public accounting before attending law school at the University of Virginia, where he served as Vice-President of the UVA chapter of the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA), was a member of a national runner up team in the NBLSA Thurgood Marshall National Mock Trial Competition and served as a Commissioner of UVA’s North Grounds Softball League.

Xavier is a member of the Gate City Bar Association and an active member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, where he serves on the GTLA Executive Committee as Co-Chair of the Minority Caucus. He also serves on the GTLA PAC Board. He was a member of the GTLA LEAD Program Class of 2020. Xavier serves on the board of Atlanta Thrive, an organization dedicated to empowering parents of Atlanta Public School children to advocate in their best interests of their children. Xavier lives with his wife, Ashley, and two children, Xavier Jr. and Olivia in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a huge fan of sports generally, but the NBA and the NFL in particular.
